It's been a few years, but Charles Barkley is back on Saturday Night Live and better than ever.
And not just because he dropped 38 pounds with Weight Watchers.
After spending the day pushing his hosting stint during NBC's NFL Wild Card weekend, Sir Charles took to the stage at the Rockefeller Center and left the country rolling with sidesplitting laughter, especially after watching him skewer NBA foe-turned-TNT coworker Shaquille O'Neal.
The Hall-of-Famer Formerly Known as the Round Mound of Rebound (that's a mouthful, ain't it?) played the role of The Big Diesel in a faux re-enactment of "Inside the NBA", with Bill Hader playing the role of Ernie Johnson, Jay Pharoah filling in as Kenny "The Jet" Smith and Kenan Thompson taking over as Barkley.
The cast does a masterful job of portraying Johnson as the lone, serious adult trying to keep the childish prankster trio of Sir Charles, Shaq and The Jet focused for long enough to talk about basketball. Meanwhile, Barkley spends most of the time ripping on Shaq while Kenny jumps up and down like a little schoolgirl over the props, tricks and jokes that Charles spews out.
In other words, it's just like watching an actual broadcast of "Inside The NBA". Kudos to the comic masterminds at SNL for nailing this one like a Shaq free throw.
